Learn how to filter YouTube search results or watch history
PDF download Download Article

YouTube allows you to search for videos uploaded in the last hour, week, month, or year, but not by a specific date. But don't worry—you can easily search for YouTube videos by date using Google. Here's how to search YouTube videos by date on your computer, iPhone, or Android.

Things You Should Know

  • To filter YouTube search results by date, Google search "site:youtube.com [keyword]". Use the "Video" filter and "Custom range" tool.
  • Open your watch history and click "Manage all history". Click the calendar icon and enter an "older than" date.
  • On YouTube, you can only filter search results by the past hour, today, this week, this month, or this year.

    • On mobile, open the YouTube app and tap You at the bottom-right corner. Then, tap View all next to History.
  2. This will be on the right side.
    • On mobile, you'll need to tap first.
    • You'll be redirected to your Google activity settings.

  3. This will be underneath the Auto-delete feature, next to a magnifying glass.
  4. Currently, you can only filter your watch history with an older than date. This means you can see your history from that specified date and everything before then.[1]
  5. This will set your date filter. The results will load in list-format with the most recent date first.
    • If you want to delete a video from your search history, click the X on the right of the video.

Using Google Search

  1. Go to https://www.google.com/ in a web browser. You can use a desktop or mobile browser.
  2. This is called a search operator; it'll help narrow down your search results with Google.[2]
    • Don't send the search just yet—you still need to add what videos you're looking for.
  3. There should be a space between the site: search operator and your username or topic.
    • For example, this could look like site:youtube.com markiplier.
    • The search results will load.
  4. This is the drop-down menu next to Tools.
  5. This will filter the results to include videos only.
  6. This will expand the filter options.[3]
  7. You can also select from the preset time filters in the list.
  8. Use the From and To box to specify the date range for the videos. You can enter the date manually (D-M-YYY) or use the calendar on the right side of the menu.[4]
    • For example, to find videos from January 1, 2023 to March 20, 2023, you would enter the date range:
      • From: 1/1/2023
      • To: 3/20/2023
  9. This will load the videos based on the date range.
